When We Face Life’s Crises

Pastor Paul Park

On our life journey, we often face crises that feel like the Jordan River before us. Unexpected problems, trials, and difficult situations come our way, and sometimes they seem too great for us to overcome by our own strength.

At such times, we become afraid, our hearts grow heavy, and we may even feel discouraged because we do not know what to do. But today’s passage reminds us that the living God is not absent in times of crisis.

The Jordan River stood before the people of Israel. They could not cross it by their own power. Yet God did not leave His people alone. He spoke to them, He led them, and He made a way for them.

When we face crises in life, the first thing we must do is come before God. We must not let ourselves be controlled by the problems we see. The situations around us may shake our hearts, and many worries may trouble us. But God calls us to turn our eyes away from our circumstances and fix them on Him. He calls us to listen to His Word and follow Him by faith.

When we stand before a road we have never walked before, we may feel afraid. We do not know where to go or what will happen next. But God is the One who goes before His people. He is the One who leads us on unknown roads. Because the Lord is our God, we do not need to lose heart. When we know who God is, we find comfort, peace, and hope in every crisis.

God is not only the One who helps us. He is the true answer to our deepest need. He is our fortress, our refuge, our hope, and our strength. So in times of difficulty, we must give God the highest place in our lives. We must trust Him, obey His Word, and walk with Him step by step.

The Jordan River may still look deep and strong. But no river is too great when God is with His people. When God goes before us, He can open the way that seems closed.

So in every crisis, we must look to God more than to our fear, hold on to His Word more than to our worries, and trust His leading more than our own thoughts.

When we face the crises of life, let us not lose heart. Even if the Jordan River is before us, God is already there. He goes before us, leads us, and makes a way for us. May we be people of faith who look to God, depend on Him, and follow Him.
